The Bold Risk Taker Dorothy Draper

When learning about Dorothy Draper I was instantly impressed, she did amazing things and her style of design is so unique. Dorothy Draper was brave, bold, and my idea of a risk taker. I tried making my presentation poster relate to her as much as possible so I used one of her more popular wallpaper prints as the background and she also used a lot of vertical stripes so I wanted to included that as well. Dorothy Draper is an inspiration to all.

Negative Space Contour Sketch

A Contour Sketch of the Negative Space of Leaves. I found it to be more difficult to sketch because of actually sketching the object we were looking at the spacing behind it.

Contour Sketching

These are two different in class assignments, practicing our contour sketches.

Elements and Principles of Design

In class we were assigned historical movements of design and to find the elements and principles of that movement. I received Federal for my movement and before this project I thought Federal was put an eagle on it and call it Federal. Not really the best point of view. But throughout this process I learned there is so much more to it; spiral staircases, fan windows, vibrant hues, and lots of structural texture. I didn't just learn  about the elements and principles of design but I gain respect for the Federal style of design.
